"Wings" Application Brings One-Click Dating to Facebook Company Announces Funding from Trinity Ventures and Rick Thompson
PALO ALTO, CA - July 27, 2010 -- Triangulate, Inc. today announced that "Wings," the
data-driven dating application on Facebook, has been selected to be featured on the
Facebook Application Dashboard. In addition, Triangulate also announced that they have
secured funding from Trinity Ventures and Rick Thompson, Chairman of Playdom. The company
has raised a total of $750,000 to bring Wings to market and to continue development on
applications that capitalize on the marriage of analytics and social media.
Founded by three Harvard graduates in 2009, Triangulate helps social citizens use their
own data to improve their lives, the lives of their friends, and the world around them.
Wings (www.facebook.com/wings) is the first application available from the company.
Wings brings "one-click dating" to Facebook by removing the burden of
profile-building. Wings uses an innovative social compatibility engine to find matches
based on a user's online activities. Wings is one of only ten third-party applications
selected to appear on the Facebook Application Dashboard. Facebook selected Wings because
it utilizes Facebook data in new ways and incorporates Facebook's new payment system,
"Wings revolutionizes online dating by using social media to replace unwieldy
questionnaires with amazingly rich profiles and then instantly deliver highly-compatible
matches," said Triangulate Co-Founder and CEO Sunil Nagaraj. "We make it simple and fun
for daters to convey an authentic picture of themselves in order to meet their ideal
matches. Wings helps to connect the dots of a person's social world to make online dating
effortless and accurate: characteristics from Facebook, comments from Twitter, movies
from Netflix, and offline hangouts from Foursquare."
Wings capitalizes on two key trends in the social media landscape: first, online dating
is on the rise, as 40 million Americans visit online dating sites each month. Second,
people are spending more time on Facebook - more than 6 billion minutes every day.
"In recent months, we've seen social media data become ubiquitous, and Triangulate is
perfectly positioned to leverage this new data set through applications such as Wings,"
said Patricia Nakache, General Partner with Trinity Ventures. "Their proprietary engine
and algorithms do all the legwork, so consumers don't have to. Dating just got much
The Wings social compatibility engine reveals trends and insights about a user's behavior
and personality relative to his or her matches and relative to the general population. By
opting in to connect their social accounts, people are immediately rewarded with insights
such as what their circle of Facebook friends says about their online personality, and
are then presented with compatible matches based on this social analysis.
While it is completely free to meet singles on Wings, daters can gain access to exclusive
features and additional matches by using Facebook Credits. The service is available at
